2/23 Rays @ Twins Spring Training recap…Buck Bomb!

The second game of the day went much better for the Twins, beating the Rays 10-5 and getting their first Spring Training win. Congrats to Rocco Baldelli on his first win!

The Twins got started right away with Polanco and Cruz reaching base, followed by singles from Rosario and Cron. Then Byron Buxton stepped to the plate and hit a two RBI single which was then followed by a sac fly from Willians Astudillo.

The Twins scored some more in the third inning when Cruz walked, Cron singled and then Buxton crushed a ball into the left field concourse!

There were nine pitchers (one per inning) to play in the game and the starter was Kohl Stewart who gave up an early run but also had a strikeout. The three best pitchers were Romero (2 K’s 0 ER), Hildenberger (2 K’s 0 ER) and Vasquez (1 K, 0 ER).

Here are the full box scores…

Batting: This isn’t really hard to award the best player today. Byron Buxton gets the point for today’s game.

Pitching: There were a few guys who couldn’t won this days award, but Trevor Hildenberger had a gutless outing with two strikeouts so he gets the point.
