2/24 Twins @ Red Sox Spring Training recap…Max starts hot!

The Minnesota Twins lost their third game of the Spring 8-5. There were a lot of positives from the guys who are going to make the team, especially Max Kepler, Addison Reed and Trevor May.

The first at bat of the game resulted in a home run off the bat of Max Kepler. Later in the inning there were two more doubles from Mitch Garver and Lamonte Wade resulting in a 2-0 lead.

The next inning had two more runs scored on solo home runs from Randy Cesar and another one from Max Kepler.

The final run was scored after Brent Rooker hit a triple off the monster in left and was driven in from a Luke Raley sacrifice fly.

Moving on to the pitching side of things, the game was started by free agent signing Martin Perez. He didn’t fare too well giving up 2 runs on 3 hits in the two innings he threw.

The three relievers on the 40-man who pitched today were Blake Parker, Trevor May and Addison Reed. All three looked good and threw a 1-2-3 inning. Those are three relievers who will play a key role in the season.

POTG Awards:

Batting: Today’s player of the game is Max Kepler. When you hit two home runs and walk in your first game of the year, you’ll get this point every time.

Pitching: The point for today’s game goes to Addison Reed. He threw a good 1-2-3 inning in what everyone hopes will be a bounce back season for the reliever.
